Publication Ethics
The foremost objective of JACEDB is to promote best practices within the academic community and to uphold the highest standards of integrity in all aspects of scholarly publishing. The journal strictly adheres to the Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals issued by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), as well as the Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Our publication processes are governed by the following core ethical principles:
- Authorship and Contributorship: All listed authors must fulfill the authorship criteria as defined by ICMJE to ensure that appropriate credit is assigned to each contributor. Authors are required to clearly specify their individual contributions to the manuscript.
- Originality: Authors must affirm that the submitted manuscript constitutes original work. It must not have been previously published, nor be under consideration elsewhere. Proper acknowledgment through accurate citation and quotation is mandatory when incorporating the work or ideas of others.
- Data Access and Citation: Authors may be requested to provide the raw data underlying their study for editorial assessment and should be prepared to make such data publicly accessible when appropriate. Research data must be cited in the same manner as other scholarly sources and included in the reference list.
- Acknowledgment of Sources: All contributions from individuals or sources other than the listed authors must be appropriately acknowledged within the manuscript.
- Declaration of Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or non-financial relationships, affiliations, or interests that could be perceived as potential conflicts of interest.
- Reporting Standards: Authors of original research articles must provide an accurate, transparent account of their work and present an objective interpretation of its significance. Compliance with the relevant EQUATOR Network reporting guidelines is mandatory.
- Human and Animal Rights: Research involving human participants must include a statement confirming compliance with ethical standards and approval from the appropriate institutional and/or national ethics committee. For studies involving animals, authors must indicate adherence to institutional and/or national guidelines governing the care and use of laboratory animals.
- Research Ethics: All research published in the journal must have received approval from a duly constituted Institutional Review Board (IRB), where applicable. Informed consent must be obtained from participants when required. Clinical trials must be registered in recognized clinical trial registries in accordance with local and/or international regulations.
- Authors’ Ethical Responsibility: Authors bear full responsibility for the integrity of their work, including data access, data accuracy, and the validity of analyses. Any concerns regarding the reliability or integrity of any aspect of the study must be thoroughly investigated and appropriately addressed by the authors.
By adhering to these ethical standards, JACEDB is committed to maintaining excellence in scholarly publishing and advancing knowledge with integrity within the academic community.
