Instruction for Authors

The KYAMC Journal agrees of accept manuscripts prepared following the ''Uniform Requirements for manuscripts

submitted to biomedical Journals'' (http://www.icmje.org/urm_full.pdf) issued by ICMJE (International Committee

for Medical Journal Editors) is acceptable to this journal for publishing. Authors are requested to follow the April

2010 update for the latest information.

Aims and Scope:

The KYAMC Journal is one of the premier clinical and laboratory-based research journals in Bangladesh.

International readership is increasing rapidly. It features the best clinical and laboratory-based research on various

disciplines of medical science to provide a place for medical scientists to relate experiences which will help others to

render better patient care.

Editorial Scope:

 The Editor-in-Chief will make all final decisions regarding acceptance.

 Selection of the reviewed and accepted manuscripts intended for publication a particular issue will be decided

by the Editorial Board.

 Submitted Manuscripts should not be previously published or currently being considered for publication

elsewhere.

 All submitted articles will undergo blind peer review as pew recommendations by subject-specific experts

selected by editors.

 Acceptance is based on significance, originality, clarity and fulfillment of the publication policy of this journal.

 We shall refer papers back for revision prior to any review if they do not comply with journal style.

Ethical Aspects:

Ethical aspect of the study will be very carefully considered at the time of assessment of the manuscript. Any

manuscript that includes table, illustration or photograph that have been published earlier should accompany a letter

of permission for re-publication from the authors of the publication and the editor/publisher of the Journal where it was

published earlier. We will also reject papers that fail to provide sufficient ethical approval where required.

Permission of the patients and/of their families to reproduce photographs of the patients where identity is not

disguised should be sent with the manuscript. Otherwise the identity will be blackened out.

Manuscript Submission:

This section of the study should be very clear and describe:

The authors are requested to strictly follow the guidelines below for submission of the manuscript to KYAMC Journal

for publication. The following documents with the manuscript are to be submitted for publication.

 A statement regarding the type of article being submitted.

 A statement that the work has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.

 A statement of financial of other relationships that might lead to a conflict of interest.

 A statement that the manuscript has been read, approved and signed by all authors.

 A letter from the head of the institution where the work has been carried out stating that the work has been

carried out in that institute and there is no objection to its publication is this journal.

 If the article is a whole or part of the dissertation or thesis submitted for diploma/degree, it should be

mentioned in detail and in this case the name of the investigator and guide must be specially mentioned.

Typing:

 Double spaced throughout with justified paragraph format and 5cm margins form the header and 2.5cm

margins in all other aspects

 Font type is Times New Roman with font size 09.

 Manuscript should have uniform style, carefully proofread for grammar, spelling and punctuation.

 All pages should be numbered consecutively beginning from the title page & number should be at the bottom center

of each page.

Title Page :

 Title of the article

 Names of all authors with their designation and institutional affiliations

 Name of the department and institute where the study was undertaken.

 Name of the corresponding author with contact address, telephone number, and email address.

 Disclosure of conflict of interest if any

 'Key words' representing the article and suitable for electronic search

Abstract:

 Structured with headings (Background, Objectives, Methods with statistical analysis, Result & Conclusion) for

original works.

 Authors' names should not be given.

 Preferably within 200-250 words.

 No abbreviations in the title and abstract except standard abbreviations.

 A non-structured abstract is suggested for review article and case report.

Text:

 IMR aD Format.

 Text should be arranged into following sections: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion,

Conclusion, Acknowledgement & References.

Introduction:

 Statement of the problem with a short discussion of its importance and significance

 Review of the literature related to the problem with pertinent references

 Objectives/ hypothesis/benefits expected stated in 1-2 paragraphs.

Materials and Methods:

 Study type, place and time

 Description of study variables

 Description of study subjects and grouping

 Selection criteria

 Approval of the interventional study involving human subjects by ethical review committee and description of

the ethical aspects in such study.

 Description of procedure, methods, apparatus, drugs or chemicals as applicable

 Description of statistical procedure with enough detail to enable a knowledgeable reader with access to the

original data to verify the reported results.

Tables:

During preparation of tables, the following principles should be followed:

 Simple, self-explanatory with brief title, not duplicated in text

 Each table should be numbered in Roman numerals and printed in the appropriate place in the text

 Tables should be formatted by Microsoft word & presented with in the * .doc file, Not as a picture.

 Use of many tables is not encouraged

Results:

 Describe without comment.

 Restrict the number of tables and figures needed to support assessment of the paper.

 Do not duplicate data in tables and figures

Illustrations:

 All illustrations must be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals as they appear in the text.

 Submit a print photograph of each illustration along with its electronic file.

 All drugs should be mentioned in their generic form. The commercial name may be used within brackets; however, it may be used.

Acknowledgement:

Individuals, institutions, sponsors, organizations, or bodies should be acknowledged in the article for their contribution

or financial or any form of assistance to the work.

Units:

 All scientific units should be expressed in the International (SI) units

Discussion:

 The discussion section should reflect:

 The author's comment on the results and to relate them to those of other authors.

 The relevance to experimental research or clinical practice,

Well-founded arguments.

References:

 Should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they are mentioned in the text.

 For reference, use author number style (Vancouver) which is based on an ANSI (American National Standards

Institute) standard adapted by the National Library of Medicine (NLM).

 Write names of 6 authors followed by et al. if author's number is more than six.

 The reference list is not usually verified by the editorial staff or reviewer. It is the total responsibility of author to

provide accurate information.
