About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Jagannath University Journal of Science (JnUJSci) is a scholarly peer-reviewed academic journal, which is devoted to the study of various branches of sciences, Engineering and Technology. It is a half-yearly journal, which publishes 2 (two) issues in one volume per year, June and December. It focuses on the way of advancement in science and technology. It is a peer-reviewed double-blind journal that takes an interdisciplinary perspective, encouraging the approaches from a variety of disciplines such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Physical Science, Mathematical biology, Bioinformatics, Mathematical modeling, Optimization etc. The editorial board encourages the authors to submit papers on the relevant issues, especially those aimed at the practitioner as much as the academic. The papers should further our understanding of the said subjects, and make a significant original contribution to knowledge.

Review Process

JnUJSci is a half-yearly peer-reviewed journal. At first, the corresponding author of a paper sends the original manuscript (both soft and hard copy) along with a plagiarism test report (similarity index must be below 30%) to the Editor-in-Chief. The Editorial board takes the decision in the board meeting whether the manuscript is suitable for the Journal or not. If so, the paper is then sent to the referee for review. Though earlier, we had single blind reviewer system per paper, but from Volume 8, No1, the journal starts double –blind reviewer system. Usually, the reviewer is given 15 days to review the paper. If the review process is not completed by this time, the reviewer is given a soft reminder to complete the review process as early as possible. However, the editorial board takes the final decision on including a submission for publication.

The focal points of the review process are mentioned below:

  1. Jagannath University Journal of Science (JnUJSci) is a academic and scientific journal. Each manuscript is reviewed by 2 (two) potential referees or scholar on the field, and the suggested manuscript is also re-reviewed by the editorial board.
  2. 2 (two) reviewers on the field of specialist are recommended by the Editor –in-chief or members of editorial board for reviewing each manuscript.
  3. The reviewers must hold a Ph.D. degree or equivalent, not below the rank of associate professor, and their field of research should be related with the under reviewed manuscript.
  4. The review comments are divided into four levels: (a) accept, (B) minor revision, (C) major revision and (D) rejection. (Details on review decisions are discussed in author’s guidelines).
  5. The editor-in-chief informs the authors about the reviewers’ comments (acceptances, rejection, or modification). Authors can amend the manuscript, provide supplementary material, and rebut comments based on the reviewer’s suggestions.
  6. Basically, only 2 (two) papers written by the same authors can be printed in the same issue of the journal; the third paper will be published in the next issue.

In manuscripts describing research on humans, it should be stated whether the study complied with the code of ethics of the World Medical Association (Helsinki Declaration of 1964, as revised in 2002). Reports of research on animals should state whether the protocol was approved by the appropriate committee of the institute where the research was carried out in line with the guidelines for the care and use of laboratory animals.
