About the Journal

Aim and Scope:

Bangladesh Journal of Radiology and Imaging (BJRI), the official scientific journal published by the Bangladesh Society of Radiology & Imaging (BSRI), dedicated to advancing knowledge and research in radiology, diagnostic imaging, and related medical sciences in Bangladesh. The journal serves as a platform for radiologists, imaging specialists, clinicians, researchers, and medical educators to share original research findings, review articles, and case reports.

Bangladesh Society of Radiology & Imaging (BSRI) was established in the month of January 1981, nearly 10 years after the independence of our beloved nation.

The first meeting of BSRI was held on 28th of January 1981, under the chairmanship of Prof Nazrul Islam and an ad-hoc committee of the society was formed. The second meeting took place on 28th of February 1981; and was chaired by Late Prof K. S. Haque (the President of the ad-hoc committee and founder President of BSRI). Key persons attending that meeting included Late Prof S. A. Sobhan, Late Prof Abdus Sobhan (the then Head of the Department of Radiology, Institute of Post-Graduate Medicine and Research, Dhaka) and Late Prof Abu Taher Amin (the Secretary General of the ad-hoc committee).

Bangladesh Society of Radiology & Imaging (BSRI) was registered with the government body, under the ministry of Social Welfare (Registrations and Regulations Act 1961/46), Registration no - Dha-02712/ 22.04.1992.

Several meetings, ample enthusiasm and the consistent efforts of Late Prof K. S. Haque, Late Prof S. A. Shakoor, Late Prof Maksudur Rahman and many others brought about the first Annual Convention of BSRI, held on Thursday, the 25th of August 1983. The event took place in the conference room of IPGMR (Presently the only medical university in Bangladesh named Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, BSMMU), Dhaka, under the Presidentship of Prof K. S. Haque and Secretary General, Dr Abdur Razzak. During the very first event the total number of society members was 40.

At present the society houses its own central office at Meherba Plaza, 33 Topkhana Road, Dhaka, Bangladesh. BSRI also publishes a BMDC (Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council) approved journal every 6 months; the first volume being published in the July of 1993.

With the advent of rapidly advancing never-ending technology, the need for expansion of Radiology became a necessity. Accordingly, under the dynamic leadership of Prof Syed Mizanur Rahman (President of BSRI) and Prof M Enamul Haque (Secretary General of BSRI) in 2011, several posts under the various sub-specialities of Radiology were created in the government sector.

BSRI currently has 502 Life Members, Honorary Memeber and more then 200 General & Associate Members.

BJRI aims to promote scientific excellence in the field of radiology and medical imaging by publishing high-quality scholarly articles. While the journal is committed to expanding its publication cycle, issues are currently released periodically, ensuring high editorial standards. Published issues can be accessed from either location, ensuring broad academic accessibility. The journal welcomes contributions covering:

  • Diagnostic Radiology

  3. Methodology: Is the study design adequate? Are the numbers of subjects / experiments justified? Has provision been made for the controlling of confounding variables? Is sampling and/or subject stratification appropriate? Are all data collection procedures feasible? Are they adequately described? Has careful attention been given to all details and procedures for data analysis?
  4. Results: Are the results well presented according to objectives? Are the tables & graphs placed appropriately?
  5. Discussion: Has the discussion been logically stated?
