Beyond the Usual Suspects – An Atypical Bone Marrow Presentation of Ewing Sarcoma: A Case Report
Keywords:
ewing’s sarcoma; hypercalcemia; small round blue cell tumorAbstract
Ewing sarcoma (ES) is a malignancy that occurs in childhood and young adolescent and has a predilection for certain site such as femur. This case is an atypical presentation of ES diagnosed through bone marrow examination in a young adult. We present a case of Ewing Sarcoma with bone marrow involvement in a young male who initially had hypercalcemia with back pain and was initially thought to have Plasma Cell Myeloma. This case highlights the diagnostic challenge posed by marrow-infiltrating ES when clinical and biochemical findings mimic Plasma Cell Myeloma. Awareness of this rare presentation is critical for early diagnosis and management.
