The manuscript of a full paper should be limited within 15 typewritten pages including tables, figures, graphs, references, etc while that of scientific notes should not exceed 4 (four) pages. Review article on fairly wide topics of current interest, either invited or agreed upon by the Editor, should have an abstract and should not exceed 20 pages of type-scripts.

Graphs and figures:

  • Preferably embedded within the body of the manuscript with reproducible quality.
  • The figure (graphs are also figures) size should not be made larger than required to convey the information.
  • Texts within the figures should be of a size that can be read with ease.
  • The figure captions should be put in a text box, placed below the respective figure, and grouped together. The caption should be preceded with a figure number with a colon, as ‘Fig.1:’.
  • The grouped figure and caption should be embedded within the text at suitable locations with text wrapped around it (text wrapping style: “square”), if the width is half the width of the page or smaller. If the width is larger, text should be wrapped above and below the figure (text wrapping style: “top and bottom”).
  • However, if the authors do not have adequate expertise, they can submit the figures separately.

These should be embedded within the manuscript at suitable positions. To place the caption at the top of the table, insert a row, merge all the cells in the row, and write the caption inside this. Remove the borders of this caption-row on the top and the two sides. The caption should be preceded by the table no. as ‘Table 1:’ etc.

Harvard style of referencing is to be followed. (Please note: earlier volumes of Bangladesh J Med Phys followed Vancouver style of referencing which will be replaced by Harvard style from 2013 onwards)

Units and symbols:
Use the metric system and give all laboratory numerical data in SI (Systeme International) units. When other units are unavoidable, use their SI equivalents in brackets.

All submissions should be made electronically in MSWORD (.doc or .docx format). Coloured graphs and figures are preferred since they enhance the presentation. The authors are also encouraged to send a pdf copy of the paper which will act as a guide to layout arrangements in case the WORD file changes them.
