About the Journal
Aim and Scope:
The Bangladesh Journal of Educational Research (BJER) is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal published by the Institute of Education and Research (IER) at the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. BJER aims to advance scholarly discourse by publishing high-quality empirical and theoretical research across diverse areas of education. It welcomes contributions on contemporary educational issues, methodologies, and policy developments, with particular emphasis on research relevant to Bangladesh and the Global South. The journal serves researchers, academics, and practitioners by providing a platform for studies that deepen understanding of educational theory, policy, and practice. Comparative and cross-cultural studies are encouraged, especially those with implications for broader educational contexts.
BJER accepts manuscripts in English. Submissions must follow the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA, 7th edition) and undergo a double-anonymised peer review process, ensuring impartial assessment by expert reviewers.
Manuscripts should be submitted in DOC or DOCX format and include:
- An abstract of 100–150 words
- A list of 3–5 keywords
- A maximum length of 5,000 words (excluding tables and figures)
Tables, figures, and illustrations should be provided as separate files to ensure clarity in formatting. Submissions should be sent to hkdasdu@ru.ac.bd and rubaiyat.jahan@ru.ac.bd, with a copy to bjer@ru.ac.bd.
Publication Format and Frequency
BJER publishes academic research articles, literature reviews, case studies, short communications, and book reviews. While the journal is committed to expanding its publication cycle, issues are currently released periodically, ensuring that high editorial standards are maintained. Published issues can be accessed from either location, ensuring broad academic accessibility.
BJER welcomes submissions from researchers worldwide, embracing diverse perspectives that contribute to educational discourse.
Ethical Guidelines
BJER maintains strict ethical standards to ensure responsible research practices. Authors must certify that their work is original, has not been published elsewhere, and adheres to ethical research principles. Research involving human subjects must comply with recognised ethical protocols, including informed consent and confidentiality protections. Plagiarism, data manipulation, and any form of unethical conduct will result in immediate rejection.
Reviewer Guidelines
The Bangladesh Journal of Educational Research (BJER) follows a double-anonymised peer-review process to ensure impartial and rigorous evaluation of all submissions. BJER is committed to maintaining a fair, timely, and constructive peer-review process. In this system, the identities of both the authors and the reviewers are concealed throughout the review process. The editorial team initially screens each manuscript submitted to BJER for scope, originality, and adherence to submission guidelines. Submissions that pass this initial screening are then sent to two independent reviewers with relevant expertise in the field.
Reviewers assess the manuscript based on originality, methodological rigour, clarity, relevance to educational research, and its contribution to the field. Reviewers are given four to six weeks to complete their evaluations. In cases where the two reviewers provide conflicting recommendations, a third reviewer may be invited to ensure a balanced decision. The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision regarding acceptance, revision, or rejection in consultation with the editorial board based on the reviewers’ comments and recommendations.
Review Process
BJER employs a double‑anonymised peer‑review system. The editorial team first screens manuscripts and then sends them to two independent reviewers, with a third consulted if recommendations conflict. Reviews are typically completed within four to six weeks. The Editor‑in‑Chief, in consultation with the Editorial Board, makes the final decision on acceptance, revision, or rejection.
Conflict of interest

Publication Ethics
BJER is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. All submissions must represent original work that has not been published elsewhere and is not under consideration by another journal. Authors are required to follow recognised ethical protocols, including obtaining informed consent from participants, ensuring confidentiality, and avoiding plagiarism, data fabrication, or other forms of misconduct. Manuscripts are subject to plagiarism checks, and any ethical concerns will be investigated in line with international best practice. Reviewers and editors are expected to act with integrity, impartiality, and confidentiality throughout the peer‑review process. BJER reserves the right to reject or retract any article that fails to meet these ethical standards.
