About the Journal
Aim and Scope:
Bulletin of the Bangladesh National Herbarium (BBNH) is an annual journal which publishes research papers on plant taxonomy, biodiversity, ethnobotany, biogeography, palynology, cytology, anatomy and conservation relevant to taxonomy and systematics. Open access of our journal will provide our work visible among plant taxonomists, conservationists, botanists, pharmacists, nutritionists, other researchers and honourable teachers and students in plant taxonomic field.
Bangladesh National Herbarium (BNH) is a national research organization for plant taxonomic research and museum of dried plant specimens. BNH is an attached department under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Changes. It deals with the exploration, collection, identification, preservation of plants and floristic publication of the country. During floristic explorations work, scientists of BNH collects fertile plant specimens including all sorts of associated information (viz. place of collection, local name(s), date of collection, phenology, diversity, abundance, distribution, use(s), potential risk from all over the country.
Bulletin of the Bangladesh National Herbarium, published by Bangladesh National Herbarium (BNH) since 1988. BBNH publishes original research findings as regular papers, review papers (by invitation). The journal provides a platform for Researchers, Academicians and Practitioners who are highly motivated in contributing to the plant taxonomy. Unpublished innovative world class research papers related to prior mentioned areas are invited.
Review Process
The journal is peer-reviewed. Each submitted paper undergoes a rigorous double-blind peer review process. After submitting manuscripts by the Authors, the Chief Editor conducts an initial screening to assess whether the manuscript fits the scope and standards of the journal. Submitted manuscripts may, however returned without review if, is not appropriate for the Journal, is of poor quality or fails to follow the standard format of the Journal. Manuscripts that meet the basic criteria are sent to two experts with author identities blinded to reviewers (double-blind review) to evaluate the manuscript. The reviewers are chosen based on their expertise, impartiality and absence of conflict of interest with the authors. Reviewers assess the manuscript based solely on its content, quality, originality, methodology and relevance to the field. Based on the reviewers' comments and recommendations, the Chief Editor will notify the corresponding author of the acceptance, necessary revision, or rejection of the manuscript. If revisions are requested, authors are typically given an opportunity to revise and resubmit their manuscript for further evaluation within 3 weeks. After revisions, the Chief Editor makes a final decision on whether to accept the manuscript for publication.
Conflict of interest
There is no conflict of interest.
Publication Ethics
BBNH upholds strict ethical standards of honesty, accuracy, efficiency, and objectivity in research, manuscript submission, peer review, and publication. Contributors are expected to adhere to ethical principles in conducting research and disseminating their findings.
Authors
Manuscripts submitted for publication must be the original work of the author(s). Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study and identified as co-authors to the paper. The corresponding author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors are included on the paper, all of them have gone through the final copy and agreed for the submission for publication. Some examples of ethical breaches include: failure to obtain informed consent from participants, simultaneous submission of a manuscript to multiple journals, not acknowledging the funding sources, having conflict of interests with other contributors and co-researchers, inclusion of false or fabricated data, plagiarism, and duplicate publication of the same or substantially similar work in different places.
Editors
The Editorial Board shall review fairly the quality of the manuscript and makes decision whether it complies with the submission guidelines and review standards. Manuscripts shall be evaluated objectively without regard to race, gender, age, institutional affiliation, and/or other personal factors. Decisions to accept or reject a manuscript shall be based on importance, originality, clarity, and relevance of the research in the submission. BBNH is obliged to preserve confidentiality and shall not disclose the contents of the manuscript nor the identity of the author until the final decision to publish a researcher's (author's) submission has been made.
Reviewers
Reviewers shall follow the instructions, complete their evaluations within the designated timeframe, and submit their reviews to the Chief Editor. The review process should be fair, objective, constructive, timely, and confidential.
Manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential documents and should not be shared, discussed, or disclosed to others. Reviewers are expected to provide well-reasoned and adequately supported feedback. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Reviewers should focus on evaluating the manuscript's content and presenting their views clearly with supporting arguments.
Publication Frequency
Bulletin of the Bangladesh National Herbarium (BBNH) is published once in a year (Name of the month June).
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
Article Processing Fees
There are no charges (payment) needed for article submission and publication process.
