Abstract

Metabolic Patient with mechanical heart valves requiring lifelong anticoagulant with warfarin. The elderly population is at an increased risk for major bleeding, possibly due to increased sensitivity to anticoagulation, multiple comorbidities, and polypharmacy. Elderly patients receiving antiplatelet along with anticoagulant therapy have an additional risk for bleeding. We report the case of a 69 years old patient with mechanical heart valve who developed subdural hematoma that was likely precipitated by concomitant use of both aspirin and warfarin.
