Abstract

A 6-year-old male patient presented with a history of an attack of high-grade fever for 2 days, progressive drowsiness, and frequent recurrent generalised tonic-clonic seizures (GTCS). There was no sign of meningeal irritation. He had a past medical history of epilepsy diagnosed 1-year prior, maintained on oral levetiracetam therapy. Patient was somnolent, poorly responsive to verbal stimuli (Glasgow Coma Scale reduced). No signs of meningeal irritation. Bilateral symmetrical hyperreflexia and post-ictal extensor plantar responses. An MRI of the brain had been done.
