Author Guidelines
The Journal of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (JNAME) is aimed to cover wide areas of naval architecture, marine, offshore and ocean engineering and related fields. Papers to be submitted to the journal should represent either original work or critical research reviews not already published or submitted for publication. Papers may be of a theoretical or experimental nature provided that they make definite contribution to knowledge and/or practice of engineering. Written discussion on already published papers may also be accepted.
General guidelines to prepare manuscript are as follows:
- The language of the journal is English.
- All scientific and technical data should be presented in International Systems of Units (SI), except in unavoidable circumstances.
- Manuscript should be typed on one side of A4 size (210mm x 297mm) paper, doubled space with a margin of 25mm on all sides. A list of captions for the illustrations and tables should be typed separately.
- The first page of manuscript should include the title of the paper, the author's name, affiliation and present address.
- A short abstract not exceeding 300 words, which clearly summarizes the objective, method used, results obtained and conclusion reached.
- Tables must be numbered in consecutive Arabic numeral throughout the text and have titles.
- All graphs, photographs and diagrams should be referred to as Fig. in the text. A detailed caption should be provided for each figure. Original line drawings must be drawn in black ink or graphic software and printed on laser printer.
- All photographs must be clear, sharp black and white prints with good contrast on glossy paper.
- Reference should be listed alphabetically at the end of the paper as shown below. They should be cross-referenced in the text by using the author's name and publication year in the style of Black (1995) or (Coney, 1989) according to context. More than two authors can be abbreviated to Eyi et al (1994).
Black, S. D. (1995): The Use of Numerical Optimization in Advanced Blade Section Design, Proceedings of 24th ATTC, Texas, A&M University, USA.
Coney, W. B. (1989): A Method for the Design of a Class of Optimum Marine Propulsors, PhD thesis, Department of Ocean Engineering, MIT, USA.
- A list of symbols and their significance should be presented with heading, ‘NOMENCLATURE'.
- The length of paper should not exceed 20 pages.
- One original and two copies of the manuscript should be sent to the following addresses. It may also be submitted through email in MSWORD & PDF format. Review will be started after receiving the Copyright Agreement Form (check JNAME website) duly filled in.
- The soft copy of the final version of the accepted manuscript typed single-spaced and single column, complete with all tables, graphics, maps, photographs etc. shall be in MSWORD & PDF format, and couriered/postal-mailed in a single CD/Floppy or emailed with attachments to the Editor-in-Chief /Associate Editor. To prepare the final version of the revised paper, the sample copy available at JNAME website must be followed.
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text is double-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
